Hi there, thanks for dropping by,
Since the start of the pandemic like everyone, I've juggled lack of childcare and work. My mini-colleague particularly liked to pay little visits on my Zoom calls and like thousands of parents I felt the stress of homeschooling and work.
I became increasingly concerned about the effect the pandemic was having on children and used art therapy, yoga and mindfulness to help my daughter through the isolation and change of routine. It helped her process and understand what was going on and got her to open up more and more.
Art therapy uses creative activities to help children explore their thoughts and feelings. Mindfulness and yoga help children connect to themselves so they become aware of how emotions feel in the body and they will to techniques to calm anxiety and stress.
As lots of little one's lives have been thrown into complete upheaval in the midst of these uncertain times I knew these activities would also help other children.
So together we launched the The Happy Craft Box to help children's wellbeing and happiness. Our craft wellbeing boxes are for children aged 3-13, encouraging resilient, mindful and happy children - the activities help children adapt to change through art, craft and mindfulness.
Rather than try and fight off my daughters natural curiosity into my work I involved her throughout. It has taught her how to start up and run a business - with a little help from her mama! My job was helping small businesses as a consultant, so why not teach the fundamentals to my 5-year-old.
So together we launched the The Happy Craft Box, I have a background in the arts and studied at Manchester School of Art and Design have worked extensively in the wellbeing and yoga industry. My daughter immerses herself in art, craft (and inventing!) - so we make a perfect team.
I've worked with the largest Wellbeing event in the UK 'The Wellbeing Festival' and Hay House Authors. I've practised yoga and meditation under the guidance of leading international yoga teachers and I'm a certified Mindfulness and Life Coach.
Since launching the business in March 2020 we have created and dispatched thousands of craft boxes across the UK, the feedback and support we have had so far has been incredible.
We were been featured in the national press and TV and had a full page spread in The Telegraph Stella magazine, Daily Mail and UK's biggest craft publication Craft Beautiful and we were invited on to Vanessa Feltz show on BBC Radio London and Channel 4 Step Packed Lunch. Check out our press here
We caught the eye of Holly Tucker MBE founder of Not On The High Street and we were chosen to represent small business in the UK as part of the Campaign Shop Independant
My daughter and I are blown away with the support of The Happy Craft Box and it's an honour to help my little daughter learn about running a business and help children cope protect their mental health in these crazy times.
We hope your little ones enjoy their craft box!
